Blackline signs exclusive agreement, launching True Fall Detection
September 23, 2011 Calgary, AB – Blackline GPS (TSX-V: BLN) is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Spantec GmbH for exclusive rights to their fall detection intellectual property that will be implemented within future Blackline mobile worker safety solutions as True Fall Detection™.
“It’s been a pleasure to have partnered with Spantec – our industry leading safety solutions will significantly benefit from their proven fall detection expertise,” said Cody Slater, Blackline CEO. “True Fall Detection represents a generational leap forward for Blackline by capturing and reporting fall events in real time, while virtually eliminating false alarms.”
True Fall Detection complements Blackline’s technology portfolio while broadening safety solutions beyond the primary space of lone workers to the general commercial safety marketplace, including construction, delivery services, and other mobile personnel.
Future Blackline safety solutions that feature True Fall Detection will incorporate embedded micro-electro-mechanical sensors (MEMS) including accelerometers and gyroscopes that detect three-dimensional acceleration and rotation of a body in motion. Spantec’s leading processing techniques continuously analyze data streaming from MEMS sensors, differentiating the signature of a fall from the profile of general activity.

Blackline will launch its first safety solution featuring True Fall Detection early in fiscal year 2012. Blackline has a patent pending on the integration of True Fall Detection within personal safety solutions.
