Edon Management Selects Blackline GPS to Provide Lone Worker Safety Solution Province Wide
Calgary, Alberta,
CANADA – April 13, 2010
- Edon Management, an Alberta based facility management firm
which serves over 12 million square feet of real estate across
Alberta, and Blackline GPS Corporation, a leading innovator of
GPS tracking, location awareness, and security products and
services, are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of
an initial phased deployment of Loner GPS for use by Edon
Management personnel.
"With the advent of a successful
pilot launch in Southern Alberta, we are deploying the Loner GPS
solution throughout the province. The product performed exactly
to specification and meets work alone legislation in a single
convenient and portable unit", said Erick Dillmann, Process
Improvement Manager for Edon.
Lone worker legislation
exists in Alberta under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
and has become law in other provinces including British
Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick.
"Lone
worker safety is a real concern for companies at risk, and a
single integrated unit that offers automated distress signaling
with motion sensing and a panic button to summon help is a great
advantage for people who are considered lone workers", said
Blackline CEO Clark Swanson. "We see this as a significant
growth market are pleased to have the opportunity to share our
expertise in the field of lone worker safety".
Loner GPS
™ is a small, fits-on-the-hip product, that was developed as
part of a larger product portfolio offering location based
services. The size of a mobile phone, Loner™ is worn by the lone
worker and constantly provides the lone worker's GPS location.
It also includes a panic button for emergencies and motion
detector that tracks lack of motion which can indicate a worker
in distress.
Management of Blackline GPS is no stranger
to the area of industrial safety. Company Chairman, Cody Slater
was the founder and CEO of BW Technologies, among the world's
largest industrial gas safety manufacturer. Cody Slater said,
"Having the engineering team to deliver the next generation of
product to address this new market is one of Blacklines
competitive advantages. Edon Management is a leader in facility
management and understands the value of protecting their
employees with a level of technology that provides them peace of
mind".
Blackline GPS has also extended Lone worker
monitoring to the mobile phone via a Smartphone pay for service
application called Loner™ Mobile. The Smartphone application
serves to notify employers that their staff is safe and features
an easy to use check-in system that operates with the push of a
"hot key" on the phone.
