Blackline walks the beat at ISC West

Blackline GPS is pleased to announce its attendance at the 2010 ISC West show in Las Vegas, Nevada March 23-26, 2010.

ISC West will serve as a platform to showcase Blackline's latest developments in law enforcement specific GPS tracking technology. On several occasions, Blackline's high-end retail GPS products have been used by law enforcement bodies to crack down on crime.

With the aid of a Blackline GPS tracking device, the California Highway Patrol FEAR team was able to place a murder suspect at the scene of the crime. The real-time GPS tracking information is now being used by the prosecution as evidence in the trial that commenced in January 2010.

A Canadian government corporation relied on Blackline GPS to collect evidence of a theft ring. Canadian officials used data collected from Blackline GPS products to facilitate the arrest and criminal prosecution of 16 individuals involved in theft of private property.

Working in conjunction with federal and local law enforcement in both Canada and the US, Blackline is in late-stage development for release this year of an improved product specifically geared towards use in these markets. The device will feature improved capabilities including:

  • improved power duration

  • minimization of power consumption

  • database analytics for reporting

  • track on motion and proximity notifications

  • sharing of real-time data between device operators

"Once again, Blackline is demonstrating its ability to apply GPS technology to niche markets", stated Clark Swanson, Blackline's President and CEO. "Our innovative research and development group is designing a user-friendly, extremely reliable and cost effective method for law enforcement agencies to make a difference in crime and reduce cost of human capital employed for surveillance of assets and individuals of interest."

In addition to law enforcement, Blackline will offer use of this product platform for other applications, including commercial freight tracking and loss prevention. Theft from commercial freights has been on the rise. In fact, The Wall Street Journal reported, "Truckloads containing $487 million of goods were stolen in the U.S. in 2009, a 67% increase over the previous year. Thieves stole 859 truckloads in 2009, up from 767 loads in 2008, according to FreightWatch International, an Austin, Texas-based supply-chain security firm that maintains a database of thefts that several government agencies, including the FBI look to for trends."
